So what do you need to do ? You need to do like this :
Check The Directory Permssions. Inside Joomla, hit Help --> System Info --> Directory Permissions. Here you will see about 20 directories, and their status. The status should show Writeable. If not, you'll have problems. If so, print this page off as a reference.
Open up FileZilla (or your own FTP program). Then navigate to your joomla site online, and then right-click on the directories listed in the printout from 1. above and you should see something like "File Attributes" this will then show what the Read/Write/Execute Permissions are for that directory. You need to ensure that the Write permissions are checked in here.
Once you have made all the necessary changes to the directories, you need to do exactly the same for the configuration.php file, otherwise you wont be able to change anything.
